Telecoms immunity and compilation of bad acts

Well, here we go again!

Those poor telecom companies who were spying on Americans BEFORE 9-11 and after have been granted immunity. It seems Nixon's theory is true... if the president does it, it becomes legal.

It amazes me how congress is so concerned about protecting George and his administration from impeachment hearings. Why is it that congress is more interested in the 2008 elections and their position in them than their constituents opinions... why is it congress places their needs and desires over ours? Why is it, that congressmen act as if they are above us... rather than being OUR civil servants? I suppose I'm too quick on the impeachment trigger... I haven't learned lessons of the past. Lying about an affair is obviously far more heinous than simply breaking laws and constitutional rights of the public.

The argument is simple... how could we possibly protect the US, if we had to get a warrant...(after the fact!) Indeed, when George told us that FISA was being used, and that wiretaps were only being utilized with warrants he was lying....When he said that he was only spying on foreign terrorists and not Americans... he was lying... When he said that 911 opened our eyes and with that started the warrantless wiretapping, he was lying... come to find out, they were doing it BEFORE 911...

What scares me is that by not investigating, congress in essence is saying they don't want to challenge George's new perceived powers... from this I can only assume that they themselves want to preserve the right to use his tactics themselves when they are in office... By not challenging Bush, they are allowing him to establish precedence for his actions... and for future presidents too. Power corrupts... remember that. To assume that running rampant over our constitutional rights would be okay if done by Democrats is crazy. Our constitution is the only thing that separates us from dictatorships. Where is the American Publics rage? Our freedom itself is being threatened... If Bush proclaimed that all citizens TV's are to be seized by armed forces, American would take to arms! Hell No They're Not Taking My TV! But when it comes to our freedom itself, we remain docile... almost sheepish. It seems it's getting easier and easier to lessen our rights, and harder and harder to add to them...

.. Starting a war and dividing the oil fields of Iraq far before 911.... no problem! Ignoring intelligence contrary to the whole Iraq weapons of mass destruction... no problem! Going to the UN with crayon DRAWINGS of suspected Iraqi mobile chemical weapons vehicles.... no problem! Flying the family of the guy who attacked us on 911 out of the country and refusing the FBI the ability to question them... no problem! Holding hands and kissing the Prince of a country where most all terrorists responsible for 911 came from... no problem! Mysterious Anthrax being distributed to Democratic members and then never investigated even though some almost died...No problem! Telling Congress and senators that an attack of DC is inniment right before recess and a vote for warrantless wiretapping...no problem! The first base in Iraq after the war being called Camp Shell.... no problem! Upon placing puppet to first rule Iraq after Shock and Awe, he signs into law legislation that says no American contractor can be held liable for criminal actions... no problem! Ordering to let Bin Laden go on three separate occasions when US forces had him targeted following 911... No Problem!

After all of this... and being crazy old me... why can't I see that Bill Clinton deserved impeachment, and George and friends don't!
